I remember the first time I met Octavia. She was quiet and reserved, very calm and relaxed and then all of a sudden she pulled out the Cruelty Free Bright Red Lipstick she wanted to wear on her wedding day.
It was a bit of a surprise but the pop of colour suited her to a Tee. As we chatted more I got to know her and discovered her quirky style and it clicked. Her unique edge was refreshing and I loved helping her continue this through her makeup for her wedding day.
One of the most rewarding parts of being a makeup artist is being able to help a bride feel amazing on her wedding day. Bridal makeup is something that I never saw myself getting into when studying to be honest, I was most interested in theatre and stage makeup. But then I filled in for a friend when she was unable to make it to one of her bookings and that was it. I was in love. There was something about the anticipation, the love in the air and the way the bride to be glowed that made me feel like I was able to make a difference to such a monumental day.
Octavia reminded me exactly why I love being a bridal makeup artist. She was happy, excited, and enjoying the morning's activities with her closest friends before meeting her Groom at the end of the aisle to say 'I Do'. Despite the morning wind, Octavia and Michael were married that afternoon at Montrose Berry Farm in Sutton Forest, in the hills of the Southern Highlands.
John Benavente captured the beautiful day and below are some of his photos. If you would like to see the whole collection, visit his website here.
